In 2009, I discovered my favorite band, Manchester Orchestra. I soon learned that they were from Atlanta and playing an album release at a local record store, Criminal Records, in a few days. I went and fell in love with them even more. Since then I have been to every show in they have played in Atlanta. 9 years ago they started a day before Thanksgiving concert will several of their friends called, The Stuffing. It's my favorite night out of the year and like a big party right before the long weekend full of turkey. Well this year while I was finishing up Thanksgiving cookies I decided to do some passion project cookies and decorate some cookies that looked like most of Manchester Orchestra's albums, their logo, where the show was this year and the design of this years Stuffing logo. When I woke up, I was super pumped for the show, posted the picture on Instagram and tagged them hoping maybe for them to see it and like the picture. Wellllllllllll. About 15 min the picture was reposted by them and after I started to begin breathing again, I noticed how many likes it was getting. 4 Days later and the number is still growing slowly but it got over 7,100 likes! It's still so mind blowing to me.
Radio 105.7 Turned 4!
I was chosen by Radio 105.7 to make their 4th birthday cake. After submitting a few sketches, the one shown above was the winner. The cake was based off the pixalized look of Glass Animal's album cover because they were playing the first show at new Roxy in Suntrust Park. The bottom tier was s'more cake and the top tier was brown butter and salted caramel. The details were all made out of fondant. There was a lot of time spent cutting out squares but it was all worth it. Meeting the band and showing up on their Instagram story was the icing on the cake.
